ESE — Standards, safety, regulation
An interface towards our colleagues’ courses. The ESE domain gathers the standards and regulatory pages of the project: European directives, machinery safety, environmental regulations. Each one follows the same delegation pattern, which is to place the constraint within the project and record it, while pointing to the standards course for the full expertise. Applied eco-design and life-cycle assessment, for their part, are covered on the project method side (eco-design, simplified LCA).
Compliance and marking
- CE marking — the declaration of conformity with the applicable European directives
- Low Voltage Directive — electrical safety from 50 to 1000 V (often out of scope at extra-low voltage)
- Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) — electromagnetic emission and immunity
- ISO 12100 — machinery risk assessment and risk reduction
Environmental regulations
- RoHS — restriction of hazardous substances, the reason for lead-free solder
- REACH — the framework covering chemical substances in products
- WEEE — the end-of-life route for electrical and electronic equipment
Safety at the bench
- PPE — personal protective equipment in manufacturing and in the workshop
